Here’s what’s coming up this week:
Anzac Day: Anzac Day is this Friday—The Dawn Service is at 5:30am, and the Veterans’ March begins at 9:30am. Details here.
The Great Treat Hunt Paws Party: Bring your pup to Haig Park this Sunday for an Easter-themed celebration for dogs. There’ll be a treat-filled egg hunt, live music, and photos. Details here.
Heritage Festival: The Heritage Festival continues this week. Highlights include the Gunfire Breakfast after the Dawn Service, tours at Mount Stromlo, the Australian Institute of Architects Foundations Tour, and Bob Brown delivering the 2025 Heritage Oration. Details here.
GWS Giants vs Western Bulldogs: The Giants return to Manuka Oval this Saturday for an evening clash against the Western Bulldogs. Only a handful of tickets remain. Details here.
Tuff Nutterz: The Tuff Nutterz inflatable obstacle course is coming to Canberra this long weekend. It’ll be set up on the Parkes Place Lawns. Details here.
Night Markets: A carnival-style night market with food trucks, kids’ rides, jumping castles, and sideshow games. It’s happening in Symonston over the long weekend. Details here.
Raiders x Brumbies: Buy one ticket to see both the Raiders and Brumbies games this weekend. On Saturday, the Brumbies take on the Hurricanes; on Sunday, the Raiders play the Dolphins. Details here.

As part of the ACT and Region Heritage Festival, take a tour of Mount Stromlo Observatory. Discover areas not normally open to the public, visit Professor Brian Schmidt’s Nobel Prize, and see a 200kg meteorite. Details here.
Mount Stromlo is also running several free public astronomy nights. These events are held in conjunction with the Canberra Astronomical Society. Come and see the craters of the moon, planets, and beautiful star clusters and nebulae. There will also be talks inside the Visitor Centre, along with warm drinks and food in the cafe. Details here.
Join artist Marianne Mettes for a fun and relaxing morning exploring layering, print-making techniques, and rubbings—ending the session with your own framed artwork. These workshops are held at the Front Gallery and Cafe in Lyneham and are suitable for everyone from absolute beginners to budding artists. Details here.
The Church is one of Australia’s most innovative and enduring rock bands. While best known for the moody 1988 gem Under the Milky Way, the band has dabbled in jangle pop, gothic rock, and shimmering dream pop.
