The popular Enlighten festival is running from Friday, 1st to 11th March. Canberra's iconic buildings will be lit up with spectacular projections, and the city centre will also light up with dinosaur-themed illuminations and entertainment for families.

Many of Canberra's national institutions, including the National Gallery, Questacon, Museum of Democracy and The National Library, are all running events and will be open late. Details here.

πŸ… Harvest Day Out at Lanyon Homestead

Lanyon Homestead is showcasing the Autumn kitchen garden with a day filled with demonstrations, tours, food, music and market stalls. Learn about sustainable food growing practices, including seed saving, pickling, preserving and more. It's on this Saturday at Lanyon Homestead. Details here.

This Weekend: 🌸 Autumn Flower Show

The Horticultural Society is hosting its Autumn Flower Show this Saturday and Sunday at EPIC. The show features a massive display of dahlias, roses, many other cut flowers, vegetables, fruit and some wonderful floral art. There will also be several vendors selling plants and bulbs. 🏎️ Canberra Festival of Speed

Over 200 of the rarest exotic cars will be on display at Canberra's Festival of Speed. The two-day event is at Thoroughbred Park and is the ultimate event in Canberra for motorsport lovers. Details here.

🚢 Melanoma March

The Melanoma March will be happening on Sunday at Black Mountain Park. The event is raising money for Melanoma Institute but it's also about awareness and reflection. You can walk either 2.5 or 3km around Black Mountain Peninsula. It's pet and pram friendly. Details here.

Clean Up Australia Day

Clean Up Australia Day is happening this Sunday. There are more than 50 registered events across the ACT, including two sites hosted by the ACT Government:

  • Learn to Ride Centre on Mortimer Lewis Drive in Greenway
  • Diddams Close west car park (boat ramp end) in Belconnen

Be amazed by gravity-defying acrobats, African rhythms and a kaleidoscope of colour. Experience the culture and sounds of Guinea come to life on stage at the Canberra Theatre. The show is running this Friday and Saturday. Tickets here.

Dahlicious: Festival of design, colour and dahlias.

Throughout March, Bison Home in Pialligo is running the Dahlicious Festival. There are guided tours of the Dahlia patch, yoga sessions, candle and fragrance-making workshops and much more. Details here.

Gang Gang in Downer is hosting some of Australia's finest electronic music acts. The lineup runs from 2pm until 10pm this Saturday. Details here.

🎾 Canberra Girls Get Active Day

Tennis ACT is teaming up with sports across the capital to host a free community sports day for girls. Women and girls will have the opportunity to try out a number of sports, and there will be face painting, tunes from a local DJ and much more. No experience is needed. The first 200 children under 12 through the gate will receive a free tennis racket. Details here.

Markets This Weekend

Hartley Hall Markets are back this Sunday at the Hall Showground. You'll find fresh produce, baked goods, plants, pottery and much more. Entry is via a gold coin donation, with money raised going to Hartley Lifecare. Details here.

Celebration of Women Market will be on Sunday from 9.30am to 2.30pm at the Fitters Workshop in Kingston. It's put on by the Canberra Circle of Women who help women and girls in countries like Pakistan and Sri Lanka break the cycle of poverty. Details here.

The Capital Region Farmers Market is back this week after a short break for the Canberra Show. It's at EPIC and is Canberra's largest farmer's market. Details here.

The Southside Farmers Markets is at Canberra College on Sunday from 7am to 11:30am. Details here.

Haig Park Markets runs every Sunday from 8am to 2pm at Haig Park (Braddon). There's a good mix of fresh produce, breads and pastries and other locally made goods. Details here.

The Little Burley Markets are on Saturday on the Lake Burley Griffin Foreshore near Commonwealth Place. They run from 8am to 1pm. Details here.
