🚣 The Golden Oar
Black Mountain Peninsula will come alive with the Golden Oar regatta festival. Set on the waters of Lake Burley Griffin, The Golden Oar brings together elite international and Australian rowers, including Olympic gold medallists, to battle it out for glory and cash prizes. The festival is equal parts elite sport and lakeside party, with food vans, bars, live music, kids’ activities, and a cardboard boat regatta. Details here.
🎨 Craft + Design Canberra Open Studios Day
Happening over two weekends, studios and community organisations around Canberra are throwing open their doors. Discover incredible local art and crafts, find unique gifts, and take part in workshops and hands-on demonstrations. Details here.
🏛️ Government House Open Day
It’s your one chance this year to see inside Government House—the official residence of the Governor-General—as it opens its doors to the public this weekend. 🧱 Canberra Brick Show

🧪 SciFright at Questacon
This Halloween, Questacon opens after dark for an adults-only SciFright—featuring creepy science, the Liquid Fright-rogen show, parasites and plagues, cane toad dissections in Q Lab, a Halloween dance floor and themed cocktails from Atomic Café. Dress to impress (or terrify). Details here.
🏳️🌈 SpringOUT Fair Day
Canberra’s largest LGBTIQA+ community event. Held in Glebe Park, there’ll be performances, market stalls, and food and drink. Details here.
💎 Spring Gemcraft & Mineral Show
Market stalls selling jewellery, rough and cut gemstones, opals, fossils, rocks and mineral specimens. There’ll also be displays of members’ collections and demonstrations of cabbing, faceting, and jewellery making. Details here.
🏀 Vikings Sunday Funday
Are your kids looking to try a new sport? This Sunday, the Vikings are hosting their annual fun day—kids can try over 20 different sports put on by local clubs. It’s a jam-packed day of sport, food, and family fun. Details here.
🏃 Canberra Times Fun Run

💀 Day of the Dead at Smith’s
Smith’s Alternative is celebrating Día de los Muertos with a week of colour, music, film, poetry and tradition. There are events all week, including an all-day festival this Saturday with sugar skull painting workshops and a night party featuring some of Canberra’s energetic Latin American bands. 👗 Little Burley Fashion Fest

The Canberra Fashion Market is packed with stallholders selling new and quality pre-loved fashion, including clothing, shoes, boots, bags, jewellery, accessories and much more. At the Fitters Workshop, Kingston, this Sunday, 2 November from 10 am–3 pm.
