Here's what's happening this Weekend in Canberra. This page is updated weekly with a curated collection of the best things to do in Canberra this weekend including markets and live music. New weekend events get added throughout the week.
📆 This Weekend is: Saturday 25th, Sunday 26th and Monday the 27th of January. Monday is the Australia Day public holiday.
FLIGHT Drone Show
Across three nights, the sky over Lake Burley Griffin will transform into a canvas of lights as 600 drones tell stories. Two 15-minute shows will run each night: Through the Lens at 9pm and ‌Into the Mind at 10pm. Complementing the drone spectacle are the night markets at Commonwealth Place, open from 5pm, and a smaller selection of food vendors at Regatta Point. The drone show is free, and no tickets are required Details here.
Last year, parking near the event was a challenge. This year, public transport is free on light rail and buses from 4pm each evening. Shuttle buses will also run from the Woden and City interchanges, as well as Tuggeranong and Belconnen, on Sunday. Details here.
Community Day at the National Museum
Immerse yourself in music, dance, art and conversation featuring First Nations artists and presenters along with performers from diverse backgrounds. There will be free creative activities, music, dance and workshops and in the afternoon there will be a concert featuring Jem Cassar-Daley and Stewart Barton. Details here.
Wurrumay Collective Event
Come together to share and learn about First Nations people and culture. Try native food and drinks, jewellery making kids colouring in & sensory play. There will be performances from Uncle Johnny Huckle with his daughter Dindima Violet. All are welcome. Details here.
🎲 Cancon 2025
Cancon is Australia’s Largest and longest running table top games convention. It’s happening this weekend at EPIC. Cancon runs miniatures tournaments, card games, board games and role playing events (like Dungeons and Dragons). Entry for spectators is free. Details here.
Australia Day at Regatta Point
There will be a community event at Regatta Point with free family friendly activities including face painting, balloon shaping and various outdoor games. The event will also feature roving entertainment and a live DJ. There will be a free sausage sizzle for the first 1000 attendees. Details here.
🚞 Train Rides to Bungendore
The Canberra Railway Museum is been running rail motor rides to Bungendore. The leisurely return journey takes you on a scenic ride through the stunning Molonglo Gorge, as well as winding tunnels and towering bridges. Details here.
Kids: 🔦 Sea of Light
Use a UV torch as your paintbrush to paint, stencil, and steer ships that leave glowing paths of light in their wake. Details here.
Kids: 🦖 DinoFest
Meet the life-size walking Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, and Carnotaurus, plus lots of cute baby dinosaurs when Black Mountain Peninsula takes a step back in time for DinoFest. Details here.
🎥 Hot Summer Nights at the NFSA
Throughout January, the NFSA will screen classic films. Before each screening, relax in the heritage courtyard with live music, cold drinks, and good vibes. Details here.
Markets This Weekend in Canberra
Haig Park Village Markets: The markets are held in Haig Park every Sunday from 8am to 2pm. You’ll find a mix of fresh produce, baked goods, handmade products and food and drink stalls. Details here.
The Old Bus Depot Markets: The OBDM run every Sunday on the Kingston Foreshore. Details here.
Capital Region Farmers Market: Canberra's largest farmers market, with over 100 stalls offering fresh produce including fruit and veg, baked goods, meat, seafood and more. It runs every Saturday morning at EPIC from 7am to 11:30am. Details here.
Southside Farmers Market: The Southside Farmers market is held every Sunday morning at Canberra College in Phillip. Details here.
Jamison Trash and Treasure: Runs every Sunday in Belconnen. As well as pre-loved and vintage items, you'll find fresh fruit and vegetables, eggs, honey, and plants. Details here.
