There’s a new lunchtime Thai spot next to Akiba (where Flash Eats used to be). Tuckshop Tamada serves up affordable and delicious takeaway modern Thai food. All of the curry mains, which come with rice, are priced at $15. This is sure to become a new lunchtime favourite in the city.
Tuckshop Tamada was founded by Sou Yota, daughter of Nith Chantharasy, who came to Australia in 1983 from Thailand and ran the Thai House restaurant in Weston Creek. Details here.
It’s that time of year again! If you’re over 65 or pregnant, you are eligible to receive a free flu shot. For those not eligible for a free flu shot (and if you don’t get it through work), it will cost around $30 at a pharmacy. ACT Health says the best time to get the flu vaccine is before winter and the start of the flu season. It takes about two weeks to develop immunity. You can get the flu shot at your local pharmacy or GP.
After 30 years in business, the Spence Butchery will close its doors on April 20th. The current owner, Tony, took over the business in 2007 after working as an apprentice for the original owner.
Earlier this week, I wrote about the Stomp Festival happening this weekend in the Canberra Wine Region. One of the events is the Lake George Winery Long Lunch and Grape Stomp. For $89 per person, you will get a 3-course meal (including a lamb rack), and each course is paired with a different drop. You’ll also have the chance to stomp grapes first-hand (just BYO towel). Tickets here.
Every Saturday at The Food Co-op in the city, there is a free bike repair workshop. Come along to learn how to fix your own bike. It runs from 11am to 2pm. Details here.
It’s your last chance to see the Seance, and Flight immersive experiences at Canberra Theatre. The shows are held in purpose built shipping containers in pitch darkness. The experience is ending on Sunday. Details here.
Did you attend Darkfield, I’m curious to know what you thought of the experience?
