From 22–26 October, more than 200 writers, thinkers and creators will bring Canberra to life across 100+ events at our cultural institutions and venues. The program has something for everyone—from politics and current affairs to crime, fantasy and contemporary fiction. For the first time, there will be a Kids, Young Adult (YA) and Family Day at the National Museum of Australia. Many of the events are filling up fast, so it’s best to get tickets soon. Details here.
The Canberra Moon Festival lights up the City, Inspire Festival takes over Ginninderry, the European Festival will bring a slice of Europe to Turner, and much more.

A number of venues around Canberra are putting on high teas for Floriade and spring:
Petals and Pours: The QT is hosting a floral-themed high tea during Floriade with petal cocktails and a wonderland of tiered treats to enjoy with sky-high views over the lake. Details here.
Old Parliament House: For one day only, on 12 October, enjoy a Floriade-inspired feast amidst the historic grandeur of the Members’ Dining Rooms. The menu includes a glass of sparkling on arrival and floral treats such as vanilla blossom tarts and wisteria and lavender meringue kisses. Details here.
Natural Nine: Every Saturday and Sunday during Floriade, Natural Nine is hosting a high tea with a delightful selection of teas, pastries and savoury treats. Details here.
Chifley’s: Indulge in the traditional Chifley’s high tea with a floral twist during Floriade. Enjoy an assortment of treats, including petite scones, mini quiches, finger sandwiches and more, as well as a spring-themed cocktail. Details here.
High Tea at Floriade: Enjoy a high tea at Floriade, set amongst the flowers, with a tea blend crafted just for the event by Waypoint Tea Co., along with scones, finger sandwiches and four sweet treats. Details here.
Flower Photography Sessions: Bring your camera or smartphone and hone your flower photography skills at Floriade. The workshops take place in the early morning, with beautiful soft light and no crowds, before Floriade opens to the public. Details here.
Spring Courtyards Tour: The courtyards at Parliament House are bursting with springtime blooms. Explore the private gardens not normally open to the public on this exclusive tour. Details here.
Venturing into the Wetlands: As part of the Tracing the Sky exhibition program (opening today at Craft + Design Canberra), take a guided tour of Jerrabomberra Wetlands with leading ecologist and restoration expert Lori Gould. Details here.
I can’t believe it’s nearly that time of year again! This is the first Christmas event of the year I’m featuring. The Christmas Spectacular at Canberra Theatre is the perfect festive treat, with a kaleidoscope of Christmas songs, dances and world-class variety performers lighting up the stage in a show that pays tribute to the Radio City Rockettes, The Nutcracker and more.
