Soggy Spring: The BOM’s long-range forecast for September to November is predicting a greater than 70% chance of above-average rainfall.
Special Event Declarations: The ACT Government has declared over 40 “special events” for the next year. These allow eligible businesses like pubs and bars to stay open later. The special event declaration was recently used for the Lions Tour in Canberra, and the first upcoming event will be this Friday’s Socceroos game. More.
Weekend Sport: It was a mixed bag of results for Canberra teams—from the jubilation of the Raiders winning the Minor Premiership on Saturday after a hard-fought win against the Tigers, to the disappointment of the Brave missing out on back-to-back titles after losing the Australian Ice Hockey League final to the Melbourne Ice. Finally, the Canberra Gunners capped it off by becoming champions of the NBL1 division after winning the national grand final in Tuggeranong on Sunday.
