Around Canberra: 🔔 St John’s Turns 180
This Saturday, St John’s is hosting its community fair—an ideal chance to explore one of Canberra’s oldest buildings. Consecrated in 1845, the church is now 180 years old.
At the fair you’ll find books, crafts, plants, jams and cakes, a white elephant stall, Devonshire teas, classic cars, bellringing displays, a jumping castle, a medieval tournament, pony rides and much more. Details here.
P.S. If you’ve ever wanted to try bellringing, the public is welcome at the open ringing session on the first Sunday of each month from 5pm to 6pm.
Coming Up: 🕯️ Canberra Nara Candle Festival
The Canberra Nara Candle Festival is back next Saturday. It’s a celebration of the sister-city relationship between Canberra and Nara, Japan, based on the much larger candle festival held in Nara. Expect Japanese art, culture, performances, activities for all ages, and the park will be beautifully illuminated with 2,000 candles. Details here.
