A couple of live music nights I recently came across:
Wednesdays at The George: The George (opposite Cockington Green) hosts live music every Wednesday from 6–9pm, featuring three acts performing originals, covers, or a mix of both. What started as an open mic has grown into a regular showcase of singer-songwriters, duos, trios, and the occasional band. It’s family-friendly, with food, drinks, and tunes in the outdoor marquee during the cooler months.
Live Jazz at Highroad: Every Friday in May, Highroad in Dickson is putting on live jazz from 5:30–8:30pm. Perfect for after-work or pre-dinner drinks, with Happy Hour running from 5–6pm.
Feel like getting outside, getting your hands dirty? Join the Office of Nature Conservation, ACT Parks and Conservation Service, the SouthernACT Catchment Group and Urambi Hills ParkCare Group for a morning of plantings and guided walks. Details here.
friGAY: Launching Friday, May 16, friGAY is a new monthly club night for the queer community at Fun Time Pony in the City. Expect performances from local drag artists, and a fun night with all things queer. Details here.
