AALIA  x Med: Good Food Guide's Australian Chef of the Year, Paul Farag, will be coming to Canberra for a one-night takeover of Med in Barton. Enjoy an 8-course menu showcasing signature dishes from the two-hatted AALIA restaurant in Sydney. Details here.
Big Box Barbecue: There was a line out the door last week when Big Box Barbecue opened in Narrabundah. They'll be back this Sunday and the next, serving up smoked meats including wagyu brisket, pulled pork, and sides like four-cheese mac and pit beans. Details here.
Wine for Gen Z: A wine tasting workshop without the stuffiness by Canberra Cellar Door. Learn all about the fundamentals of wine in a relaxed, friendly space. Details here.
Ikigai Ramen Boxes: Canberra's late-night ramen spot, Ikigai in Gungahlin, is now selling Ramen in a Box. Get a Tonkotsu Ramen in a frozen package that can easily be reheated in the microwave. Available as takeaway from today. Details here.
Coming Soon: Outro, a new lounge bar from the team behind Terra and Recess, will be opening soon on Lonsdale Street. And wine bar/small plate restaurant Tintinowill be opening in Kingston. I'll have more details when they open.
National Science Week is Australia's annual celebration of science and technology. There are lots of events happening in Canberra—here are just a few highlights I came across:
The Equality Equation: She Shapes History will introduce you to the hidden history of women in STEM who shaped Australian science but rarely made the textbooks on this two-hour walk through Canberra's hidden science history. Details here.
Parasite Pandemic: The Australian Society for Parasitology, in partnership with the ANU, is hosting a series of parasite-themed events—including a Parasite Escape Room where you need to find the antidote and save humankind from a rapidly spreading parasite pandemic, and a virtual reality experience where you'll visit a farm and use your virtual diagnostic techniques to find and treat all of the different parasites. Stars in 3D: In this groundbreaking dance-science presentation at CMAG, you'll be taken on a 4-dimensional trip through space and time. Perfect for families, space enthusiasts, and anyone who's ever wondered what a supernova would look like as choreography. Details here.
Science In and Out of the Pub: Something strange is happening in our wetlands. The frogs are falling silent—and scientists are racing to find out why. Join ACT and Region FrogWatch for an evening of detective-style science, where real-world conservation meets curiosity, creativity, and community. Game Day Traffic: The Canberra Brave have changed the start time for this Saturday's ice hockey game at the AIS to assist with traffic management in the area. Starting later at 7:30pm will allow traffic to clear from the Raiders game, which is expected to draw a near sell-out crowd.
There will be free public transport to the Raiders Game with buses departing from all interchanges. Details here.
Influenza Cases Surge: Canberra is on track to record its worst flu season, with a surge in influenza cases. Almost double the number of cases have been reported so far this year compared to the same time last year. More.

Peace Maker is Turning One: The Peacemaker Saloon in Braddon is turning one. They're celebrating with a shindig from noon on Saturday, July 26. There will be a live band, a mechanical bull, and lasso and horseshoe games. Details here.
Mooseheads is Turning 21: Iconic Canberra nightlife venue Mooseheads is celebrating its 21st birthday next Saturday with a festival spanning all four levels with five different stages. Details here.
Love Disco: Strap on your rollerblades, slip on your favourite pair of bell-bottom jeans, and pop a few extra buttons on your satin shirt—Love Disco is coming to Blackbird next Saturday. It will be a night of disco dance floor hits alongside performances by Canberra's finest Drag Queens. Details here.
Hottest 100: The Triple J Hottest 100 countdown is happening next Saturday. Assembly in Braddon will be hosting a countdown party from 12. Details here.
Retro Silent Disco: Party at the National Museum next Saturday when they host the Retro Silent Disco. There will be three DJs—you can choose the party you want to tune into: Christmas in July, 80s and 90s Pop, Rock & Chart-Toppers, and Classic Dance Anthems. Details here.
Electric Disco: STUN Magazine presents a night of solid disco/house vibes with very special guest Molly Poppinz (RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under, Season 2), plus local drag acts, live music, and DJs. Details here.
