The Scandinavian Film Festival kicks off at Palace Cinemas this Wednesday. Opening night includes a reception with Nordic flavours—choose an elderflower cocktail or mocktail, sparkling, red or white wine, plus a cinema treat—before the Australian premiere of WWII spy thriller Number 24. Mr Squiggle: The National Museum is hosting a behind-the-scenes look at the iconic Australian children's TV show, Mr Squiggle. It's free! Details here.
Megafauna: Come face-to-face with giant megafauna that once roamed Australia, at the look-alike trail at the Botanic Gardens. Details here.
Winter in the City: A new set of free shows is running Tuesday to Saturday on the Grand Winter Stage at City Walk. Expect acrobatics, clowns, juggling, and flying trapeze from Circus Oz—plus a hilarious musical performance by Lucky Jim. Details here.
Crafternoons at the Mint: Drop into the Mint from 2–4pm for a free craft session inspired by its current exhibition on honours and awards. Details here.
Floating Saunas: Construction has begun on the floating saunas being installed on Lake Burley Griffin. Operated by Providence NDR—a business that also runs a similar sauna on Tasmania's Lake Derby. The saunas are expected to open later this year.
Splatter Painting: A splatter painting experience is coming to Mitchell. Suit up in protective gear and unleash your creativity by flinging paint across a canvas. The Splash Lab opens August 1. Details here.
