Dr Edge: Onzieme is hosting one of their favourite Tasmanian winemakers, Peter Dredge—aka Dr Edge—who has amassed a cult following for his high-quality range and funky labels. Peter will be pouring nine of his best wines to match nine special dishes Onzieme is preparing. It's happening July 29. Details here.
Saturday Social Club: 10 Yards in Aranda is launching Saturday Social Club—the evening starts with a casual wine tasting with a local winery, followed by a generous shared-style dinner at the long table. It's happening every Saturday. Details here.
Burnt Basque Cheesecake: Pialligo Bakesmith has started making this Burnt Basque Cheesecake—and it looks amazing. Details here
Lerida Low and Slow: Lerida Estate Wines is hosting a night of warming wines, BBQ bites, and vintage vinyl in the beautiful surrounds of Canberra Contemporary by the lake. Tickets include a glass of wine and a plate of BBQ meat by Big Box BBQ. Details here.
Everybody's Trufflin: Bentspoke Brewery is hosting a trip to Blue Frog Truffle Farm in Sutton. The bus departs from Bentspoke to the farm for a truffle hunt and masterclass, followed by a two-course truffle lunch at the BrewPub, paired with a truffle-infused beer. Details here.
Winter Wine Series: This week, Collector Wines will be at the Hyatt as part of their Winter Wine Series. Enjoy a complimentary fireside wine tasting every Friday from 5:00pm–6:00pm in the Griffins Lounge. Details here.

The Prime Minister's Potato: Historian-curator Anne-Marie Condé has had a long career working at our national institutions—including the National Museum, the National Archives, and (currently) MoAD. She's now written a book of essays that ask fresh questions about the significance of objects and places in the lives of ordinary people. She'll be launching The Prime Minister's Potato at the Book Cow next Wednesday. Details here.
The Good Losers: Meg Bignell will launch her latest novel, The Good Losers, at the Book Cow. Set in northern Tasmania, it's a hilarious and heartwarming story about an elite local rowing club. My Father Bryce: Adam Courtenay will be in conversation with Alex Sloan about his memoir My Father Bryce as part of the Meet the Author Series at ANU. Dynamic, complex, driven—Bryce Courtenay was all of these, as well as one of Australia's most beloved authors. To his son Adam, he was larger than life, mercurial, and impossible to fully know.
