Next Sunday is Clean Up Australia Day. If you’re interested in helping out, there are a number of clean-ups happening around Canberra:
National Capital Authority: The NCA is holding five clean-ups around Lake Burley Griffin at Black Mountain, Yarralumla Beach, Lotus Bay, Weston Park, and Grevillea Beach. They’re asking people interested in taking part to register online. Details here.
ACT Government: The ACT Government is holding two clean-ups, one at the Harrison Playing Fields and another at Gordon Oval. Both will take place from 10 am to 12 pm. Details here.

The Psychology of Serial Killers, presented by renowned forensic psychologist Dr. Rachel Toles, is a chilling and captivating live experience that delves deep into the minds of history’s most notorious murderers, exploring the darkest corners of human psychology. Calling all knitters, crocheters, weavers, spinners, felters and fibre artists! The 2025 Australian Yarn Show is happening on March 7 - 9. đźš” Police Operation: The Uriarra Crossing Recreation Area will be closed to the public today as the AFP conducts a search operation. The search is related to an ongoing investigation and is expected to take most of the day.
🚍 Free Travel for Games: Transport Canberra runs free charter buses for all Brumbies and Raiders games. Buses depart from the Tuggeranong, Woden, Belconnen, Gungahlin, and City interchanges. Details here.
🚧 Parkes Way Travel Impacts: There will be lane closures on Parkes Way for the next two weeks. Only one lane will be closed at a time, but the affected lane will vary. Thankfully, the lanes will be closed between 9:30am and 4pm, so it shouldn’t impact peak hour traffic.
The Melanoma Institute Australia is calling on Australians to join its national campaign, Melanoma March 2025, to raise awareness and funds to save lives from melanoma. The march will be happening in Canberra next weekend with a walk around Black Mountain Peninsula. Details here.
