This was a popular inclusion when I shared it last year, so I thought I would mention it again! The Canberra Shanty Club meets at Smith's Alternative for a fun singalong of sea shanties, working songs and folk chorus tunes. Due to the all-sing nature of the songs, the sessions are very friendly and great for those who get nervous singing in front of others. The next session is this Wednesday at Smith's Alternative. Want to hit the dance floor without wrecking your Sunday? Bed By 10—a club night for the over-30s—is coming to Fiction this Saturday. Expect wild visuals, confetti showers, CO₂ cannons, and the resident DJ spinning all the club classics. Details here.

Analogue: Jonas Balsaitis: Analogue is a survey exhibition of paintings, prints and films by Australian artist Jonas Balsaitis (b. 1948, Germany) from 1968 to 2001. It's opening at the Drill Hall Gallery this Friday. Details here.

Corpse Flower: A rare Corpse Flower is blooming for the first time at the National Botanic Gardens, unfurling on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to give you a heads-up about tickets—they were released over the weekend and snapped up quickly. Due to the flower's location, only a limited number of visitors will be able to see it. More.
Bike Path Upgrades: Works will be starting tonight to upgrade the shared path adjacent to Lady Denman Drive. The path is part of the lake loop and is in desperate need of repairs. The path will be closed from 9pm to 6:00 each night until Friday 14.
Cameron Myers Breaks Record: Canberra's teenage middle-distance runner Cameron Myers has broken the U20 world record for the indoor mile. The time qualifies Myers for the world championships in Tokyo later this year. More.
