Wine N Dine: The progressive long lunch, Wine N Dine, is making its debut in Canberra! Enjoy a four-course lunch at Amici, Luna Bar, COMPA and Wilma. Tickets include 4 x signature plate vouchers and 4 x wine vouchers to use at the four venues during the afternoon. Each venue will have three different dishes on offer and two local wines, so there’ll be plenty of choice. Details here.
Bottomless Lasagne Returns: Wakefield’s Bar (at Edgars in Ainslie) is holding another Bottomless Lasagne night. The last one was a success and was fully booked. Enjoy 90 minutes of unlimited lasagne paired with a seasonal salad. Details here.
OTIS Has New Owners: OTIS in Kingston has new owners. Chef-owner Damian Brabender chose to sell the venue after suffering a hip injury in a car crash. The venue is being taken over by local hospitality group Home All Day, who run Highroadin Dickson and On Lonsdale in Braddon. You can expect the restaurant to remain true to its roots, with the new owners planning to keep things the same.
Mezze Mezze: Turkish-Mediterranean cuisine is coming to Verity Lane. Mezze Mezze opens today—think grilled skewers, meze plates and syrup-soaked revani. Details here.
Bar Outro: A new wine bar and restaurant has opened on Lonsdale Street. It’s the latest offering from the team behind Recess and Terra. Taking over the space where Rye Cafe used to be, Bar Outro is doing laid-back share plates, natural wines and vinyl. Details here.
Spice, Brews and Bites: Opening in Dickson is Spice, Brews and Bites, offering authentic Indian and Nepalese cuisine. Details here.
Darkness: Old Canberra Inn is celebrating all things dark beer this Saturday afternoon, bringing together breweries including Bright, Cypher, Good Folk, Jervis Bay and more. Details here.
New Sushi Bell Location: My favourite sushi place in the city, Sushi Bell, has opened a second location at 12 Moore Street in City West.
A couple of literary events coming up:
Death at Booroomba: Join Alison Booth as her novel Death At Booroomba is launched by Barbie Robinson, with Professor Frank Bongiorno as MC. After WWI, Jack O’Rourke returns to find the stranger he once saved, Samuel Lomond, murdered—and that he’s inherited Lomond’s farm, Booroomba. In Warrawolong, near Eden, a hostile town and a decades-old conspiracy force Jack to hunt a killer in A. L. Booth’s evocative historical whodunit. Details here.
Sita Sargeant: In collaboration with the National Centre of Biography, Sita Sargeant will be in conversation with Michelle Staff to discuss her latest book, She Shapes History: Guided Walks and Stories About Great Australian Women—as well as the tour company itself, and the role of biography in public history work. Bush Capital Coin: The Mint is celebrating the Bush Capital for its 32nd release of the Kangaroo Series. The coin features landmarks including the Mint, Parliament House and Black Mountain Tower. Details here.
Guy Sebastian is stopping by Canberra as part of his 2026 Australian tour. He’ll be performing his biggest hits, as well as new tracks from 100 Times Around the Sun, at the AIS Arena in April next year. Details here.
The National Capital Exhibition is celebrating 50 years of the Australian Honours and Awards system (Order of Australia, Bravery Decorations, etc.) with a special display of commemorative medals, honouring the remarkable achievements of past recipients. It’s running until 8 September. Details here.
