Inspire Festival (6 September): A festival of ideas, art and nature is set to light up Ginninderry. The Ginninderry Inspire Festival returns with a packed program celebrating art, nature and sustainability. There will be talks, workshops, market stalls, live music and more. Details here.
KiteFest (7 September): Googong’s uplifting kite festival is back with a host of new flying friends, including dragons, bunny rabbits, stingrays, and a flying pig! Details here.
Floriade (13 September - 12 October): Australia’s Biggest Celebration of Spring is just around the corner, including Nightfest and a satellite event at Lanyon Homestead. Details here.
German Spring Markets (14 September): The German Markets are back at the Harmonie Club with delicious German street food, boutique stalls, a German deli and more. Details here.
UC Open Day Fest (20 September): UC's Open Day is back and for the first time, it’s a festival! Enjoy live music, explore the campus, take part in hands-on workshops, join sports activities and let the kids have fun in the kids’ zone. Details here.
Kambah Spring Sustainable Fair (21 September): A community celebration of all things sustainable featuring workshops, a clothes swap, e-bike rides, local craft stalls and more. Details here.
Trent Dalton’s Love Stories (24-27 September): Bestselling author Trent Dalton’s Love Stories comes to the Canberra Theatre, a moving, funny and heartfelt celebration of love in all its forms. Details here.
ACT Seniors and Better Ageing Expo (24 September): A big day of information, entertainment and connection with over 150 exhibitors, demonstrations, food and drink, and entertainment. Details here.
Lifeline Bookfair (26-28 September): Make room in your bookshelf, the spring edition of the Lifeline Bookfair is coming up at EPIC. Details here.
Canberra Circus Festival (26 September - 5 October): The best in Australian and international circus, clown, magic, and sideshow are coming to Canberra, with shows for the whole family, and for teens and adults. Details here.
Spring Sustainability Market (28 September): Haig Park Village Markets will welcome the arrival of spring with a special market day to celebrate all things sustainability. Details here.
Next Friday, UC is hosting the Cross Culture Moonlit Markets—a night of food, music and dance. Enjoy a world of flavours from Chinese snowflake crisps to Turkish gözleme, and performances from around the globe including K-pop dance and Brazilian samba. It’s running from 5–9pm on the UC Concourse. All are welcome. (The markets were originally scheduled for tonight, but due to the weather, have been postponed to 5 September). Details here.
Direct Flights to Avalon: Fly Pelican is launching direct flights between Canberra and Melbourne’s Avalon Airport. The flights will operate three times a week using the 19-seater Jetstream 32 aircraft. Flights begin in October. Details here.
Commonwealth Bridge Construction: Major traffic changes are coming to Commonwealth Avenue as work begins on strengthening the bridge. Construction will take place on one side at a time, with each closure affecting both the road and the walkway/cycle path. The other side will remain open to carry two-way traffic, pedestrians and cyclists. Work is due to start later this year and will run for about two years. More.
