Coming up this week:
Music on the Green: Celebrate the end of winter with Music on the Green at the Suburban Land Agency Display Village in Whitlam. Enjoy an afternoon of food, music and fun activities for all ages. Details here.
Urzila Carlson: There are just a handful of tickets left to see South African-born New Zealand comedian Urzila Carlson’s shows at Llewellyn Hall. Details here.

We Don’t Have Time for This: Kate Reeves and Gemma Peanut from the We Don’t Have Time for This podcast are bringing their Who Is This? live show to Canberra this week. Details here.
There’s also a special brunch event happening at Canberra Outlet featuring a meet-and-greet with Gem & Revz. Details here.
Dragon Dreaming Warm Up: Before the festival kicks off, Dragon Dreaming is heading back to its roots for a one-night-only warehouse experience. Born in Kowen Forest and now thriving on the shores of Lake Burrinjuck, the festival has always been about community, creativity, and connection. This warm-up party promises to bring that same magic back indoors for an unforgettable night. Details here.
Little Wing Puppets: The Owl’s Apprentice is an interactive show using shadow puppetry, hand puppetry and storytelling for children aged 4–12. The show highlights unique Australian animals and draws on the 16 Habits of Mind. Details here.
WPlace is a social art experiment turning the world into a pixel art canvas. Anyone can drop a single pixel every 30 seconds anywhere on the map. The result? A constantly evolving, chaotic artwork that’s part fandom turf war, part expression, and part digital street art.
It’s interesting to see what’s popping up in Canberra—I spotted a massive Kingsley’s logo, a well-done recreation of the Territory flag, spirited (and sometimes rude) school rival callouts, a proud ANU Computer Science Students’ Association emblem, and plenty of anime and memes. Overall, it’s a vibrant, youthful collage dominated by younger participants staking their digital claim. Warning: since anyone can place pixels, there’s always a chance of NSFW or inappropriate content. Details here.
BentSpoke Dad’s Day Out: Dad will get an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour at the Mitchell Cannery, a can of their newest beer release fresh off the line, and the inside scoop from head brewer and co-founder Rich Watkins. After the tour, enjoy a hearty two-course Oktoberfest-inspired meal with pretzels, pints, bratwurst and more. Details here.
Father’s Day Cruise: Take a two-hour cruise around Lake Burley Griffin with a complimentary welcome drink and a BBQ featuring sausages, chicken kebabs and salads. Details here.
Murrumbateman Chocolate Co: Take a day trip to Murrumbateman and enjoy sustainably produced chocolate varieties paired with Canberra district cool-climate wines at the Father’s Day Chocolate and Wine Tasting Experience. Details here.
Hyatt Gentleman’s Buffet High Tea: The Hyatt Canberra is hosting a Gentleman’s Buffet High Tea with favourite high tea desserts plus live stations including gourmet sliders, cheese and charcuterie boards. Details here.
Ambrosia: Ambrosia Lounge at Dairy Road is serving a limited Father’s Day menu featuring pulled pork sliders, chilli butter sourdough, and a three-hour drinks package. Details here.
Natural Nine: Celebrate Father’s Day with a surf-and-turf banquet feast with a Chinese twist at Natural Nine. Details here.
The Pavilion: Start with a complimentary house beverage before enjoying a selection of sausages, minute steaks, prawn skewers and chicken tenders, alongside bread rolls and salads. Vegetarians can opt for jacket potatoes with various toppings. Details here.
Big Box BBQ: Capital Brewing is teaming up with Big Box BBQ for the “ultimate” BBQ experience. Pick up a Father’s Day Big Box featuring wagyu brisket, pork butt, jalapeño and cheddar beef snags, plus all the sides. Details here.
Hotel Kurrajong Guy Tea & BBQ: Tuck into beer-braised beef sliders, grilled corn on the cob, rosemary lamb loin chops, rum chocolate mousse, and Biscoff crème brûlée. Dads also receive a complimentary beer on arrival. Details here.
Schrödinger's Sculpture: Did you know there’s a sculpture buried in Commonwealth Park that may or may not still be there? The artwork, titled Earthworks by Bert Flugelman, was buried in 1975, and the NCA hasn’t revealed its location. Watch.
UNSW Campus: Stage one of UNSW’s $1 billion, four-stage plan to build a City Centre campus in Canberra has been approved by the NCA. The project will transform the gravel car park on Constitution Avenue. Details here.
Dog-Friendly Cafes: Subscriber Natasha asked if I could cover some of the dog-friendly events and cafes in Canberra—I have a few ideas, but as I don’t have a dog, I could use some suggestions.
đź©° Ballet of Lights: Ballet of Lights: Sleeping Beauty has arrived in Canberra! This beloved tale is brought to life through classical dance, stunning choreography, and beautiful glow-in-the-dark costumes. Get your tickets for Ballet of Lights: Sleeping Beauty in a Sparkling Show in Canberra! Details here.
