Explore the private courtyard gardens of Parliament House this Spring on an exclusive guided tour. At this time of year, the courtyards are bursting with colour. The spring tours are happening on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 September. Details here.
Sport: 🏐 Canberra Heat
The Canberra Heat represent the ACT in the Australian Volleyball Super League. Both the men’s and women’s teams will play their first home game of the season this weekend at Volleyball ACT in Lyneham. Matches can also be streamed on SBS On Demand and YouTube. Details here.
🌷 Workshops at Floriade
There are several workshops happening alongside the flower displays this year at Floriade. Try your hand at Ikebana flower arrangement, flower photography, oil painting, nature journaling and more. Details here.
Friday: 🍕 Pizza and Pyjamas
Dress in your PJs and bring a teddy for a screening of Pixar’s classic Toy Story at the NFSA. A ticket includes pizza on arrival. The family-friendly event is happening Friday night at 6pm. Details here.
Nightlife: 💃 The Noosh
The Noosh is a monthly performance game show featuring drag, burlesque, comedy, music and more. It’s happening at FunTimePony this Wednesday. Details here.
Something to do: 🎶 Canberra Mens Choir
The Canberra Men’s Choir is a non-auditioned choir that welcomes any men who enjoy singing regardless of their musical experience and ability. They are hosting an open night tonight (apologies for the late notice) at the Harmonie German Club in Narrabundah. It’s a great opportunity to see what they’re all about. Details here.
Tidbits:
Motorcade: The police will be doing a motorcade exercise today. There may be traffic delays between 8am-10am around the airport, War Memorial, EPIC and the Parliamentary Triangle.
Rabbit Control in Reid: The ACT Government is expanding its rabbit control program. During September rabbit control operations will begin in Reid. The work will take place mainly at night and is expected to finish in December.
Suspicious Fire: Police are investigating a suspicious townhouse fire on Tewksbury Circuit in Theodore that occurred early Sunday morning. There have been no reports of injuries.
Canberra Heat: The Bureau of Meteorology predicts above-average rainfall and temperatures over the next 3 months. According to the forecast, there is a 60% chance of rainfall exceeding the median and a 75% chance of above-average heat.
