In positive news for threatened species in the ACT, eight southern brush-tailed rock-wallabies were released into the newly opened Jedbinbilla Safe Haven at Tidbinbilla. It is estimated that only 60 individuals of the southern population remain in the wild. The safe haven will provide crucial protection against extinction. More wallabies from Tidbinbilla’s breeding program will be released into the haven soon.

The odds of the Raiders making it into the NRL finals are slim. In order to progress, Canberra needs Newcastle and The Dolphins to draw in their game. Since the golden point rule was introduced this has only ever happened in just 0.43% of games. Canberra will be playing the Dragons this afternoon in what’s very likely to be their last game of the season.
For one night only in October, The Boat House will be transformed into a lakeside cocktail bar. The event will include ferry rides on the 103-year-old MV Reliance, lawn games, DJ music, bottomless drinks and canapés. Details here.
Unisport Nationals: The Unisport Nationals begin today in Canberra. Over 6000 student-athletes are in town to compete over the next 7 days in 30 sports. More.
