The ACT Government will not renew Beam's contract to operate the purple e-scooters in Canberra. An investigation found Beam were operating more scooters than their permit allowed. During September, Canberra Museum & Gallery will be hosting a pop-up bar in the heart of the city. From Thursday to Sunday, starting this week until the end of the month, visitors can indulge in drinks from Ravensworth and Capital and cheese treats (including toasties and blue cheese cones) from Le Cheeserie. The Spring Edition of the Second Life Markets is happening at the UC Refectory this weekend. There will be 60+ stalls with vintage and preloved fashion from both local and interstate sellers. Details here.
The Canberra Miniature Railway is a community non-profit run entirely by volunteers from the Canberra Society of Model & Experimental Engineers. The miniature railway opens on the second and last Sunday of each month. A $15 ticket includes unlimited rides on the nearly 1.5km of track. This weekend, there will be a miniature steam engine. Folk duo Felicity Urquhart and The Waifs' Josh Cunningham will be performing songs from their Golden Guitar winning album Birdsong at Tallagandra Hill winery, a 30-minute drive from the city. It's happening in two weeks' time on September 21. Details here.
Civic Library will be hosting the Canberra Craft Bookbinders' Guild's latest exhibition GUILD 24. The exhibition features 36 works by 15 local and interstate exhibitors, displaying a wide range of binding skills. It opens tomorrow and runs until October 2. Details here.

United Signing: The A-league's top goal-scorer, Michelle Hayman has signed a one-year deal to stay with Canberra United. There was speculation Heyman was leaving Canberra for an overseas deal but she decided to stick with Canberra.
Apprentice Payments: The ACT Government has started sending out the $250 one-off cost-of-living support payments to eligible apprentices. Those who are working for an eligible employer and started training before July 1 2024, will automatically receive the payment. More.
