The Capital Region Farmers Market is hosting a special spring edition market this Saturday. The market will be filled with local plant growers selling natives, flowers, rare plants and veggies (including tomato seedlings). ABC Radio will be broadcasting its gardening program from the market, and chef Louis Couttoupes (Onzieme) will be taking on a cooking challenge using fresh market produce. It’s happening at EPIC this Saturday from 7am to 11:30am. Details here.

The 2024 Australian Cool Climate Wine Show is holding a public tasting event this Saturday in Murrumbateman. Tickets are available at the door and include wine tasting, a wine glass and nibbles. Details here.
Australia’s favourite gardener, Costa Georgiadis (Gardening Australia), will be at Floriade tomorrow. See him on stage, and then say hello in person during two meet-and-greet sessions. Details here.
Cormac Farrell is known as the head beekeeper for the Australian Parliament House. He manages several apiaries in Canberra, including the six hives at Parliament House. Cormac has written Urban Beekeeping, The City as a Hive which, is both an in-depth instruction manual for creating hives in urban spaces and an exploration of why reshaping our cities to make space for nature is vital. There’s a book launch happening next Friday at Old Parliament House.
Honey from the Hives at Parliament is used in the kitchens as well as to make honey vodka and honey soap available from the gift shop.
Stand-up comedian Lizzy Hoo, best known for her Amazon Prime stand-up special “Hoo Cares”, will be performing in Canberra next Wednesday at Fun Time Pony. Details here.
