An astronomy-themed playground at Denman Village will be opening this Saturday. It’s an impressive park with a giant 8-metre dome, multiple climbing nets, a flying fox, water play area and a hidden surprise buried at the bottom of the sandpit. There’s also a shaded bbq area and the playground is right next to Two Before Ten.
This Saturday there will be a special celebration to mark the opening with kids activities including face painting, train rides, a scavenger hunt and more. Details here.

Miss Vans in the city has announced they have closed due to difficult trading conditions. More.
Eats: Burgers and Wines at B-Side
Braddon café B-Side (Lonsdale Street) will be hosting an evening of burgers and wines this Friday evening. Canberra-region winery Mallaluka will be pouring wines. Walk ins only. Details here.
The Forage Popup
The Forage are hosting an event at Mount Majura Vineyard next Saturday. Think gourmet street food, local wines, live music and plenty of space to relax and soak in the views. Details here.
Le Cheeserie Masterclass
As part of The Forage popup, local cheese shop Le Cheeserie will be running a cheese and gin masterclass. Details here.
Crack Pies Crack Bakery makes over-the-top apple pies and other baked goods. They publish a menu every Friday with goods available to order from their website on Sunday. Details here.
The much-loved Yarralumla Arts and Craft Show is happening this weekend. There will be over 100 local artists, crafters and makers showcasing their wares as well as refreshments and entertainment from local choirs and musicians. Details here.
10Yards in Aranda is hosting a sourdough masterclass with the bakers from Clementine Bakery. In the hands-on and social cooking class you’ll learn how to make your own sourdough. The event finishes with a dinner accompanied by local libations. Details here.
Redbrick Coffee in Fyshwick will transform into a day disco this Saturday. There will be food by UNDER, drinks, music and dancing. It’s running from 3 pm to a very respectable 8 pm—so you’ll be well rested for your parkrun the following morning. Details here.
