Have you ever wandered along City Walk in Civic and noticed a haunting pack of seven thin, bandaged bronze dogs and wondered why they looked that way? These sculptures are the creation of artist and former park ranger Dr. Amanda Stuart. Inspired by the complex relationship between humans and wild dogs—creatures that are pests to some and pets to others—she used actual measurements from wild dog carcasses, some of which were hung in trees by hunters, resulting in the elongated forms. The "ghost pack" is wrapped in bandages made from pyjamas donated by farmers who struggled with wild dogs, perhaps serving as a healing gesture between humans and these animals. See them here.
