Planning a hike this spring? Did you know you can hire a personal locator beacon (PLB) from the Namadgi and Tidbinbilla Visitor Centres? In the event of an emergency, these beacons can be activated, and help will be dispatched to your location. ACT Parks recommends carrying a beacon when hiking in isolated areas. The PLBs can be booked by calling the Namadgi or Tidbinbilla Visitor Centres.

NCA Project Failure: Essential works to strengthen Commonwealth Avenue Bridge were supposed to have already begun, following Federal Government approval of the project in 2023. The National Capital Authority has refused to answer questions on why the project has been delayed with construction now slated to begin mid-2025. The delays by the NCA could further slow down work on stage 2b of Light Rail. Infrastructure Australia has previously questioned the NCA’s capacity to deliver complex infrastructure projects.
