The new MyWay+ ticketing system on Canberra buses and light rail starts today. You can now pay for public transport by tapping on and off with a credit/debit card or your phone. You don't need a MyWay+ account or MyWay+ card to use the new system (concession holders will still need an account or card).
If you have Apple Pay, Google Pay, or a physical debit/credit card, no setup is required—just tap on as you would in a store. Remember to tap off with the same payment method at the end of your journey.
ACT Seniors Card holders can travel for free (ages 60-69: off-peak and 70+: all times) until June 2025. After that, you'll need a MyWay+ card or account. More.
The MyWay+ app is currently quite buggy, and there may be some initial hiccups as the new system rolls out.
If you're travelling on public transport today, let me know if you experienced any issues or found the system easy to use!
