This month marks 40 years of Canberra’s iconic chicken shop, Kingsley’s. Local content producer Mustard Flats has put together a documentary on the history of the fast-food chain. Watch it here.
Made in Canberra: 🚀 Baz Builds a Space Ship
Barry Armstead (Baz) is a full-time cutler and instructor at the Tharwa Valley Forge. For the past seven years, he has been building a full-size replica of a Battlestar Galactica fighter in his shed. The impressive creation, measuring 8.4 meters in length and weighing over 700 kilograms, will make its public debut at the upcoming Canberra Knife Show in Tharwa. Details here.

Something to do: ☎️ Vinnies Laneway Market
Vinnies in Dickson is running a Laneway Market beside their shop on Woolley Street. Inspired by Parisian flea markets, the staff have filled the space with a curated collection of vintage treasures under twinkling lights and other decorations. The market will run on Friday evenings (5:30 to 8:30pm) through to the end of summer—perfect for after-dinner thrifting.
Stage: 🩰 The Nutcracker
There are still a few tickets available for The Nutcracker ballet happening in December. The Ballet, presented by Ballet International Gala, transports audiences to a magical world of dancing snowflakes, mischievous mice, and a heroic Nutcracker Prince. Details here.
This Weekend: 🎥 Sunset Cinema
Sunset Cinema is back at the Botanic Gardens, offering outdoor screenings of blockbusters and classics. There’s a food truck and a licensed bar or bring your own picnic and non-alcoholic beverages. For seating, pack a picnic rug and pillows, or hire a bean bag for extra comfort. The season kicks of this week with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, The Wild Robot and Joker: Folie à Deux showing.
