News: 🧑🍳 Essential Ingredient Has a New Name
The Essential Ingredient in Kingston has a new name. The popular cooking store is now known as Cook & Co. Essential Ingredient, had been operating since 2003 and was always the best place to find more obscure cooking ingredients. Cook & Co. is being run by the same team and will stock many of the same products. The big change is the new store will have more control over what they stock and can expand into new products as they are no longer part of a larger chain. More.
Coming Up: 🌶️ Verity Lane Chilli Week
Chilli Week is back starting this Thursday, 9th May, at Verity Lane. All six vendors will be taking part with special menu items including crumbed jalapeño poppers from La Cocina and Sichuan peppercorn chicken bites from Super Bao. The bar will also be turning up the heat with a spicy mango margarita with chilli salt. Details here.
Something to do: Ngunawal Language Workshop
Join Ngunawal elder Tyronne Bell for an introduction to the Ngunawal language. The event is hosted by Watson Microforest, an urban oasis designed to combat climate change. The workshop will be happening this Saturday at 3 p.m. Details here.
Exhibition: 🖼️ All My Memories Are Mistranslations
Omar Musa is a Bornean-Australian author, visual artist and poet from Queanbeyan. The award-winning artist’s exhibition of woodcuts is based on Omar’s realisation that many of his conversations with his grandparents were misheard or misunderstood. The exhibition will be held from now until June 2nd at the Humble House Gallery in Fyshwick. Details here.

Italian restaurant in the city Amici, is offering a special “Table for Two” deal. It includes a pizza of your choice, raclette, olives, tiramisu and a glass of wine each. It’s available every Thursday evening for $100 per couple. Details here.
