News: Canberra's Dementia Village is a Step Closer
Work is progressing on the Curtin Dementia Village with the Place Development Brief released. The village is inspired by the pioneering De Hogeweyk dementia village in the Netherlands. Unlike traditional nursing homes, the village model is designed to provide a familiar, 'home-like' environment for residents within a supportive community context.
The Dementia Village will be built on the former North Curtin School site in Curtin on Carruthers Street.

At sunrise, on the shortest day of the year, brave Canberrans can drop their towels and take a dip in Lake Burley Griffin and raise money for charity. The Winter Solstice Nude Charity Swim is happening on June 21st, and we will be raising money for Lifeline Canberra. Details here.

Feist Tea was started by two friends in 2021 who enjoyed catching up over a good pot of tea. They soon realised that brewing tea was one of the only times they actually stopped for a minute, and they wanted to share that with other busy people. Espresso Room: An Espresso Room Cafe will be opening outside Coles in the Canberra Centre. They'll be serving Ona Coffee and Wildflour pastries and bread. It will open in August.
More EV Chargers Coming: An additional 39 public Electric Vehicle chargers with 65 bays will be added to Canberra in a new round of grants. There will be a particular focus on chargers near high density housing (apartments).
