The Braddon Place Development on Northbourne has been rejected by the Planning Authority. The rejection was caused by a myriad of issues, including a lack of 3-bedroom apartments (only 3 of 602), bedrooms without windows, a lack of visitor parking (12 spaces instead of the required 151), insufficient shading on west-facing windows, and the removal of regulated trees.
The Sustainable Travel Street Party is a celebration of sustainable and active travel in the ACT. You'll have the chance to test ride e-bikes and e-scooters, there will be skateboarding workshops and demonstrations, and beer from Bentspoke. Citizen Kay and Lucy Sugerman will be performing. It's happening on the corner of Mort and Elouera Streets in Braddon this Sunday from 12pm to 5pm. Details here.
Reload Bar in the City is hosting a Hot Dog festival this weekend. There will be an all-you-can-eat hot dog challenge, a cutest dachshund costume contest, hot dog trivia, sausage bobbing and much more. It's on this Saturday from 12pm. Details here.
Get ready to jam out to your favourite rock and roll tunes and support a great cause that is raising money for HeartKids. Mitch Canas, Metropolis and 5150 will be performing at Rose Cottage this Saturday afternoon. All proceeds from ticket sales go to Heartkids, an organisation solely focused on supporting and advocating for all people impacted by childhood heart disease, one of the largest causes of infant death in Australia. Details here.
Prominent Canberra building company Project Coordination has entered voluntary administration. The company has been operating for nearly 50 years. The firm had 10 active development projects in the ACT, and work has been suspended on all sites. More.
