Hannah Andrevski has been named the Canberra Citizen of the Year. Andrevski is the CEO and founder of the Roundabout Canberra charity that supports local families in need by providing essential baby and childrenβs items including car seats and prams. Items donated to Roundabout Canberra are cleaned and checked for safety before being distributed to families in need through local organisations. More.
The Weston Creek Orchard is a community orchard in Weston Creek. It utilised the old CIT orchard that had been abandoned and neglected for the past 10 years. The community group aims to rejuvenate the site using organic, permaculture and biodynamic practices.
Working bees are usually held every third Sunday of the month. The next one will be tomorrow, and there will be activities to suit all ages and capabilities. Find out more.
The Skyfire fireworks will start at 8:30pm tonight and go for around 20 minutes. There will be entertainment at the Main Stage at Regatta Point from 5pm onwards. The RAAF flyover will happen from 6pm to 6:15pm. Food and drink vendors will be at Regatta Point, Rond Terrace and Kings Park. There will also be a Market at Commonwealth Place. Details here.

Artist Eddie Mowat and a team of collaborators have created a new piece of street art on Belconnen Way between Coulter and Lathlain Drives. The piece features Canberra icons, including the old Action buses and the Belconnen Owl. See it here.
From February 20th to March 6th, 2,576 infringements were recorded, with 192 vehicles receiving multiple tickets. The fixed camera on Gungahlin Drive accounted for the majority of these. The cameras detect if a driver is holding or touching their mobile phone while driving.
A new Manoosh Pizzeria location is opening in Weston. To celebrate the launch, they are giving away free pizzas today between 11:00am and 1:00pm, in-store only. Details here.
Fox Antiques, a Fyshwick antiques store, will close in April after 45 years in the business. The store was started in 1978 and was originally located in Braddon. It then moved to Kingston (where The Essential Ingredient now resides) and finally to Fyshwick. Owner Charlie Alliott would travel to France twice a year on buying trips to stock the store.
