Cafe Stepping Stone runs two cafes in Canberra. The cafes act as a “stepping stone” for migrant and refugee women by providing employment and training to those struggling to find work due to language barriers, lack of qualifications and the necessity for flexible hours.
There are two Stepping Stone cafes in Canberra: one in Dickson and the other in Strathnairn. They’re definitely worth stopping by if you’re out for a walk this weekend in Ginninderry or Dickson. Details here.
Work is underway to install a massive $14 million artwork in the renovated Sculpture Garden at the NGA. The gallery is live-streaming the project as it is constructed. It will open in October. More.
This winter, The Hyatt is running a Sunday Carvery. The buffet includes a roast station with Berkshire pork, wagyu beef and free-range chicken. Details here.
The owners of Sideway announced this week that they would be closing the bar after 5 years of operating. The good news is that a new owner has stepped up and will be taking over the live music venue. Sideway will become “Shadows” and will continue operating after Sideway closes next week.

To celebrate the grand opening of Harris Farm Markets, Majura Park is holding “Fresh Fest”. There are a number of activities for kids, including smoothie and pizza making. There will also be food trucks and live events. It’s happening on Saturday and Sunday. Details here.
