City restaurant Such and Such has a couple of takeover events coming up. Happening on Sunday afternoons, the 'So and So' takeovers feature 5 snacks and 5 drinks. The next event is on Sunday, 7th July, when Such and Such will host Melbourne chef Michael Ryan from the two-hatted Provenance. He’ll be creating a Japanese-inspired menu and cocktail list. You’ve got one week to practice your moves for the Nutbush Flash Mob being held by the Canberra Museum and Gallery. Last year, over 200 people turned out to celebrate Tina Turner. This year it’s happening on Tuesday 25th June at 12.30pm in Civic Square. Details here.

Despite the recent challenges faced by music festivals in Australia, Canberra will be welcoming a new dance music event later this year. The Times Music Festival is happening in September, and announced acts include Sneaky Sound System, Bag Raiders, Mousse T and The Potbelleez. The festival is taking place at the former Canberra Times site in Fyshwick. Details here.
Recycled Runway is back for its second edition. The runway show features upcycled fashion made by local designers. It’s happening at the Blank creative space in the City this Friday. Details here.

The ACT and Australian Governments will jointly fund the construction of a new recycling facility for Canberra. The Materials Recovery Facility in Hume used to be one of the largest recycling operations in Australia. In December 2022, it caught fire and was extensively damaged. Since then, Canberra’s recycling has been transported to Sydney and Melbourne.
A new state-of-the-art facility will be built on the existing site, and a contract is expected to be awarded in the coming months.
