News: 🇨🇳 The Chinese Premier is Visiting Canberra

China's Premier Li Qiang arrived in Canberra on Sunday as part of his visit to Australia. Security fencing has been erected on Commonwealth Avenue and around the Hyatt, where the Premier is staying. Drivers should expect delays around the Parliamentary Triangle today, and it's likely there will be protests in the area.

News: 🏗️ New Convention Centre

The upcoming ACT budget will include funding for design work on a new convention centre. The new convention centre precinct will include a multi-use venue designed to attract larger touring acts and also host sporting events.

The precinct will be built on the current convention centre site and will also extend onto the Civic Pool site. The government is considering replacing the pool with new aquatic facilities in Commonwealth Park.

Something to do: 🦒 World Giraffe Day at the Zoo

World Giraffe Day, established by the Giraffe Conservation Fund, is celebrated on the 21st of June to raise awareness and funds for giraffe conservation in Africa.

The National Zoo and Aquarium is hosting a "Paint and Feed" event this Sunday as part of World Giraffe Day. It includes a 2-hour paint session with Paint Pinot, a keeper talk and the chance to feed the giraffes. Details here.
