Dee’s Comics in Belconnen is Canberra’s oldest comic book store. The store will close later this year after being in business for over 25 years. The store’s owners said: “Despite growing our customer base over the last 18 months, sales have been very low. People are still spending, but spending far less, and like the cost of living, our overheads have all increased drastically, but cash flow has not. Retail can be brutal, but the last few years have been especially tough for small businesses.”

JD Sports, known as the “undisputed king of trainers,” is a popular sportswear store from the U.K. JD Sports will open its first store in Canberra at the Canberra Centre in July.
Work on the long-promised duplication of Athlon Drive will begin in the coming months. $8.6 million has been allocated to the project in the upcoming ACT budget. Work on moving services, adding walking and cycling paths, and new lighting will start first, with the major works beginning within a year. More.
