News: 🍝 Belluci’s Woden To Close

After 25 years, Belluci’s in Woden is closing and will be replaced by 'The Southern,' a new pub. The restaurant will close its doors on August 1st. Belluci’s in Manuka will continue to operate.

News: The Cube is Back

The iconic Illumicube outside the Canberra Centre has been refurbished and will once again light up. The cube’s lights, originally triggered by sound, often malfunctioned due to the noisy Civic environment. It is now programmable and features an LED panel in each glass brick, allowing the lights to change based on community events or to raise awareness for various causes. The cube was originally built in 1988 to commemorate 25 years of electricity supply.

Something to do: 🏞️ Join a Platypus Survey

August is the best time to spot a platypus in Canberra. Waterwatch runs group surveys throughout August on selected rivers in the ACT to learn more about the platypus population. You can take part in these guided surveys and no experience is necessary. 34 surveys will be taking place in August, as well as 4 Platypus Walks. Details here.

News: 🪵 Rebate Increased for Wood Heater Removal

The ACT Government has doubled the rebate for Canberrans, who replace their wood heaters with an electric option. Concession card holders can access a rebate of up to $1,250. The rebate is part of the scheme to phase out wood heaters by 2045.

News: 🏗️ Build To Rent Project A Step Closer

The ACT’s first dedicated build-to-rent site has been sold and contracts exchanged with developer Cedar Pacific. 270 apartments will be constructed on the site located on Northbourne Avenue in Turner, very close to the Ipima Street light rail stop. 40 of these apartments will be designated as affordable rentals."

Exhibition: Step into the Limelight

The Step Into the Limelight art exhibition has opened at the M16 Art Space. It is the largest showcase of work from school-age artists in Canberra. The exhibition is running until August 4th. Details here.
