The 12th NAIDOC community art exhibition features artworks created by detainees at the Alexander Maconochie Centre in Canberra. The exhibition features around 30 artworks, all of which are for sale. Funds raised go into trust accounts to support the artists’ rehabilitation and reintegration in the community. Several individuals have thrived under the program and continued their art beyond incarceration.
The exhibition is on now until August 23 at the Community Services #1 Gallery in Narrabundah. Details here.
Next year’s Canberra Balloon Spectacular will be starting later in March so as not to clash with Enlighten and provide the best chance for better ballooning weather. The festival will also be moving back to its old location on the lawns between Questacon and the National Portrait Gallery, providing more space for an expected increase in visitor numbers. Next year’s festival will be running from March 15th to March 23rd.

Trophy Boys is a queer black comedy about power, privilege and high school debating that challenges the toxic masculinity, misogyny and homophobia of our elite private boys’ schools. It’s coming to Canberra this August. There are only a few tickets left. Details here.
To celebrate National Scotch Day, Molly (City) is hosting a scotch masterclass and tasting. The 90-minute session includes tastings from each Scottish whisky region. It’s happening on the 27th of July. Details here.
Kiwi international Madison Bartlett, Canberra’s leading try-scorer for 2023, has extended her contract with the Raiders until the end of 2026. More.
The Raiders NRLW campaign gets underway with an away game against the Wests Tigers on the 28th of July. Last year was the Raiders' first season in the NRLW, and they just missed out on the finals with a 5th place finish.
