The next iteration of The Green Shed, Goodies Junction, opens today. Vinnies took over running of the Green Shed tip shops in June. The shops have been closed for the past month but are now open once again. Details here.
The Vault events space in Dairy Road is turning into a roller rink this weekend. There will be skate classes, roller dance classes, themed rink sessions, and roller discos. Details here.
The Sir Joseph Banks statue at The Botanic Gardens was stolen last Tuesday. Police believe visitors to the gardens may have unknowingly captured the offenders in photos. More.
This Saturday, The Canberra Choral Society and the National Capital Orchestra will be joined by guest choristers from The Llewellyn Choir to present a performance of Ludwig van Beethoven's Missa Solemnis. Composed in the final stage of his prolific career and living with profound deafness by this time, Beethoven described the Missa Solemnis, completed in 1823, as his finest work. Details here.
Peter Barclay, the owner of King O'Malley's pub, approached the Canberra Glassworks to see if they could find a way to upcycle the large number of Bombay Sapphire Gin bottles they go through. The Glassworks created a bespoke chandelier for the pub, and they also sell a range of sapphire vases available in the gallery shop. Details here.
Each year, The Friends of the Arboretum partner with an embassy to create the Warm Trees installation featuring colourful knitted scarves wrapped around trees. This year, they've partnered with the Embassy of Chile. Details here.
