ACT RSPCA is nearing capacity, with more than 350 animals currently being cared for. There are usually only around 180 animals in care. Unfortunately, many of the recently arrived animals require extensive care due to their poor condition. More.
A record 52,000 people attended the NYE Fireworks. This year, there was only a 9pm display and no midnight fireworks. The change was due to low attendance of the 12am fireworks in previous years.

If youβre looking for a tough running challenge, the Australian Mountain Running Association runs monthly events in Canberra. The Mount Ainslie Run-Up is held on the first Tuesday of every month, and the Black Mountain Run-Up is on the third Tuesday of every month. There is no entry fee. Just turn up and run. Details here.
