News: 🐈 ACT RSPCA Shelter at Capacity

ACT RSPCA is nearing capacity, with more than 350 animals currently being cared for. There are usually only around 180 animals in care. Unfortunately, many of the recently arrived animals require extensive care due to their poor condition. More.


Record 52,000 People Attended NYE Fireworks

A record 52,000 people attended the NYE Fireworks. This year, there was only a 9pm display and no midnight fireworks. The change was due to low attendance of the 12am fireworks in previous years.

Events ACT is asking for feedback from people who watched the fireworks this year. It will help shape the future of the NYE fireworks display. If you complete the short 5-minute survey, you’ll go into the draw to win a $100 gift card. Details here.


News: 🚘 Summernats Starts Up

The 36th year of Summernats has gotten underway with the City Cruise running yesterday. A convoy of around 500 cars rolled down Northbourne Avenue. More.


Tomorrow: ⛰️ Music in the Mountains

This Saturday, Groove to local tunes as you take in the stunning beauty of Namadgi at Music in the Mountains. A lineup of local talents will be playing, and there will be beers, wines and delicious food. Tickets are $15. Details here.


Tomorrow: 🎾 Finals Day at The Canberra International

Tomorrow is the last day of the Canberra International. It’s Finals Day, and the best of the competition will be competing for a prize pool of USD$320,000. The draw and tickets are available here.


Something to do: πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ Australian Mountain Running Association

If you’re looking for a tough running challenge, the Australian Mountain Running Association runs monthly events in Canberra. The Mount Ainslie Run-Up is held on the first Tuesday of every month, and the Black Mountain Run-Up is on the third Tuesday of every month. There is no entry fee. Just turn up and run. Details here.
