New Eats: 🥗 Catbird

There is a new cafe in Parkes. Catbird is located in the Griffin Building (opposite CIT Reid). The menu is inspired by founder Taylor Wright’s journey from Southern California to Canberra and features breakfast burritos, American-inspired sandwiches and fresh salads. It’s open seven days, from 8am to 2pm. Details here.


Coming Up: 🚤 See the Balloon Spectacular by GoBoat

One of the best ways to see Canberra’s Balloon Spectacular is by boat. Tickets are now available for special GoBoat hire during the spectacular. Set sail from Kingston Foreshore at 6am with up to seven friends or family and watch the balloons as the sun rises. The Balloon Spectacular runs from the 9th to the 17th of March. Details here.


This Weekend: 📚 Lifeline Bookfair

The popular Lifeline Bookfair is back. The Bookfair raises a major portion of the funding needed to keep Canberra’s crisis support phone line running. It’s the best place to find second-hand books in Canberra.

The Bookfair is at EPIC and runs from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th. Details here.


News: Review into Indigenous Incarceration

The ACT is holding a review into Indigenous Incarceration in Canberra. It will be run by the Jumbunna Institute. 27% of Canberra’s average prison population is Indigenous, yet just 2% of the population of ACT identified as Indigenous in the last census. More.


News: 🎾 New Tennis Centre Coming to Gungahlin

Development plans have been lodged for a new Tennis Facility in Amaroo. It will include 10 full-sized courts, 2 hot shot courts, a hitting wall and various facilities, including parking, change rooms and a pavilion.


Tomorrow: 👨‍👦 Pyramid Making at the National Museum

Every Wednesday during this term, the NMA are running hands-on pyramid-making sessions for children aged 2 to 6. Tickets here.


Updates: Protests Happening Today

There may be short traffic delays on Northourne Avenue and Commonwealth Avenue today as protest groups make their way to Parliament House.
