Construction of the first stage of the Kingston Cycleway, a pop-up bi-directional protected cycle lane on Bowen Drive, will begin in the coming weeks. The section of the cycleway will run between the Kings Avenue underpass and Bowen Park, making it much easier for cyclists to travel around the busy section of the Lake. The cycling lane will be signed for cycling only, and the existing path will be signed for pedestrians. Kerbs and new pavement will be added to link the cycle lane to the path network.
This cycle lane will be temporary and replaced with a mix of shared and separated cycling facilities that is currently in the planning stage.
