De Doughnut, a new doughnut store, has opened in Dickson. On offer are fresh doughnuts in a wide variety of flavours, cookies, cakes, and coffee. They opened yesterday in the DKSN Eat Street development. Details here.
The ACT Government is looking to reclassify Molonglo Valley as Canberra’s sixth town centre to allow greater growth and development in the area.
Molonglo was originally planned to house around 55,000 people, but the population is now expected to exceed 70,000 by 2050.
The National Capital Authority will decide if Molonglo will be reclassified. More.
The AFL is coming to Canberra this Friday as part of the AFL Community Pre-Season. As well as the on-field action, there will be off-field entertainment with Giants inflatables and giveaways. Entry is free for kids under 15. Tickets here.
Fences have been erected around the development site of a 238-room luxury hotel being built in Garema Place. The hotel will be built over the next three years.
The site was originally owned by Geocon, but they chose to sell the site to TP Dynamics. They will be applying to change the original Geocon plans to add additional hotel rooms and more car parking.
The development will feature multiple restaurants, bars as well as high-street shops on Bunda Street. The developers are also keen to see Gus’ cafe incorporated into the new hotel.
TP Dynamics is in discussions with a “five-star” hotel brand to operate the hotel. More.
