The Desert Stars are travelling 2700km from Tjuntjuntjara in Spinifex Country to perform in Canberra. Their music is steeped in '80s rock tradition with themes including their hunter-gatherer life, how their ancestors survived the British atomic tests at Maralinga and their profound cultural connection that spans 2,000 generations. They'll perform at the National Gallery on March 2nd as part of the Enlighten Up Late program. They'll also be performing at Dendy Cinema in support of their award-winning documentary Gravel Road which showcases their incredible story. Details here.
The ACT recently introduced new tree protection laws. To help Canberrans understand the new laws, the ACT government will be holding community pop-ups in March where you can get your questions answered. The first one is happening this Friday at Margaret Timpson Park in Belconnen. Details here.

The Canberra Philharmonic is putting on a production of Bring it On. The musical is inspired by the hit American teen comedy film of the same name. The musical was written by Tony Award winner Jeff Whitty, and the music and lyrics are by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Bring it On is opening this Friday at Erindale Theatre. Tickets here.
The Enlighten festival starts this Friday and runs through until March 11. Canberra's landmarks will once again be lit up with projections, and Civic Square in the city will feature dinosaur-themed illuminations and performances for kids. The festival hub has a beer garden, bar and around a dozen food options. There will be live music at the hub each evening. Details here.
