News: Asbestos Contaminated Mulch Possibly Sold in Canberra
The ACT EPA is investigating mulch sold in Canberra that may be contaminated with asbestos. The mulch, produced by Greenlife in NSW, was sold to ACT landscaping supply company Stonehenge Beltana in Pialligo. The mulch was marketed as “cottage mulch” and sold to 24 companies and 27 addresses in Canberra. Stonehenge Beltana has been contacting the customers, and a task force has been set up by the Government. They are still investigating whether any of the mulch was installed by private operators on publicly available sites.
The ACT Government has advised that the public health risk of bonded asbestos is low. More.
News: 🏗️ New Housing Development Announced in the Inner South
Plans have been unveiled to transform parts of Kingston, The Causeway, the train station and surrounding areas into a new development known as East Lake. The existing train station will be upgraded, and up to 1500 new homes will be added to the area. The new development will include public and affordable housing, and the current Causeway residents will be given the option to stay in the area. The plans are now open to public consultation. More.

Everyman Theatre is bringing back the critically acclaimed production Queers to the ACT Hub in Kingston.
The play ‘Queers’ celebrates a century of evolving social attitudes and political milestones in gay history, as seen through the eyes of seven individuals, each of whom relives their stories within the familiar setting of a quintessential British Ale House ‘The Prince’s Arms’. It’s running now until the 24th of February. Tickets here.
