News: The ACT Border May be Expanded
The ACT border currently runs through the proposed suburb of Parkwood. The ACT Government believes the easiest solution will be to move the ACT border slightly to encompass the new suburb. Otherwise, NSW will need to provide services to the NSW side of the development. Negotiations over the border move with the NSW Government are ongoing. More.
This Weekend: π The National Multicultural Festival
The National Multicultural Festival starts today at 5pm. There are 8 different stages featuring a huge variety of performances. The weekend will be headlined by future soul R&B artist Ngaiire and hip-hop artist Citizen Kay. The stages are spread across the city centre alongside hundreds of food stalls. Details here.
The best way to get to the festival is via Public Transport. Public transport is free over the weekend. There are numerous road closures in the city and limited parking. A shuttle bus does service several car parks around the city.
News: π Meet The Star of This Yearβs Balloon Spectacular
This yearβs star of the Canberra Balloon Spectacular is Lucy. Lucy hails from England originally but now lives in Canada. She will be making her first visit to Canberra alongside 40 other hot air balloons. The Balloon Spectacular will run from the 9th to the 17th of March. See Lucy here.
This Weekend: Multicultural Festival at CMAG
The Canberra Museum is running several activities for kids during the festival. There is Portrait Printmaking, Watercolour Painting and Face painting. The Canberra Symphony Orchestra will host an instrument petting zoo where kids can touch and play their favourite instruments. Details here
This Weekend: Seniors Lounge at the Festival
COTA (Council on the Ageing) are providing a seniors lounge at the festival. Itβs inside the Civic Library. Pop in (and escape the heat or rain) to grab a cup of tea or coffee and have a chat with the staff. Details here.
Sport: π Raiders Re-sign Pasami Saulo
The Canberra Raiders have re-signed forward Pasami Saulo for another 2 years. Saulo joined the Raiders last year and has played 22 games for the team. More.
