News: 🏅 The AIS Will Stay in Canberra
The Federal Government has committed to keeping the AIS in Canberra. There were calls to move the AIS to Brisbane before the 2032 Olympics. An independent review was commissioned into a potential move, and that report recommended the AIS stay in Canberra.
The ACT Government is looking for the Federal Government to provide funding to revitalise the precinct. More.
News: New Public Artwork in Denman Prospect
There’s a new piece of public art in Denman Prospect. The 7-metre-tall sculpture is inspired by Canberra’s Autumn leaves. It features 2500 red, yellow and green spinners that move with the breeze. More.
Today: 🍗 Zierholz and Brazbecue Popup
Head down to Hassett Park in Campbell to grab a beer from the Zierholz brewery popup and Brazilian BBQ from Brazbecue. They’ll be running from 2pm till dark. Details here.
Something to do: 🥾 London Bridge Walking Track
The London Bridge Walking track is located within the heritage-listed Googong Foreshore precinct. The 2-hour walk will take you past the limestone London Bridge Arch and past the London Bridge Homestead.
Googong Foreshores is 10km south of Queanbeyan in NSW, but the area is managed by ACT Parks and Conservation. You can get a walking map and guide here.
