It’s a quieter weekend for events, but if you’re like me, you’ll probably be busy with some last-minute Christmas shopping! A few highlights include festive miniature railway rides and the final farmers markets of the year.

ACT Libraries: All ACT Libraries will be closing at 3pm on Christmas Eve. They will reopen on January 5. All return chutes will be closed during this time. The Libraries will have reduced opening hours over January and early February. Details here.
Tidbinbilla and Namadgi: Both parks will be closed on Christmas Day.
Museums and Galleries: All of Canberra's public museums and galleries close on Christmas Day but are open over the rest of the holiday period, including Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
Supermarkets: All Woolworths, Coles and Aldi supermarkets will be closed on Christmas Day.
Chemists: If you require medication on Christmas Day, Capital Chemist in O’Connor and The Pharmacy on Northbourne will be open on Christmas Day.
Cinemas: Hoyts in Woden will be open on Christmas Day.

Celebrate Gravy Day at a free screening of How To Make Gravy, the new movie based on the iconic Paul Kelly song. It's happening this Saturday at the Palace. Details here.

Light Rail Construction: The raising of London Circuit is nearly complete, paving the way for light rail construction to begin in February. Details here.
Double Demerits - From midnight tonight until January 1 double demerits will apply in both NSW and the ACT.
If your bin is usually collected on a Wednesday (Christmas Day), it will be collected next week on Saturday 28. All other collection days, including Boxing Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, will be collected as normal. Details here.
