Transport Canberra held their annual Rail Safety Week poster competition, receiving a record 64 entries from students. Four winning designs have been chosen and are now displayed on the side of two light rail vehicles. Additionally, there is a 'people's choice' award, allowing you to vote for your favourite design. The winning entry will be displayed on board the vehicles. You can see the designs and vote here.
Transport Canberra also released a video of near misses with light rail. There have already been 4 collisions this year and over 40 near misses! Details here.
Canberra's mens basketball team, the Gunners have made it to the NBL1east grand final. They'll be taking on the Maitland Mustangs in Penrith this Saturday. You'll be able to watch the game on Kayo.
Woden Library has been closed since May for significant upgrade works. It was set to reopen in August, but that date has been pushed back to November after asbestos was found during construction. The bonded asbestos was sealed and undisturbed and did not pose a safety hazard to the community.
The temporary Woden Pop-Up Library at 26 Corinna Street in Phillip will continue to operate until the upgrade works are complete.
The end of winter is the time to start thinking about what you'll be planting this spring. Canberra Seed Savers is holding the Spring Seed Swap this Saturday at the City Farm. You can buy packets of seeds including locally grown seeds perfectly suited to local conditions. It's also a great opportunity to see the city farm and meet other growers. Details here.
Canberra Potters' annual winter festival is happening this Saturday. Take part in guided clay experiences (pre-booking required), observe the resident artists at work, enjoy live music and entertainment and browse the ceramics shop. There will be food & drink stores available with visitors encouraged to buy a handmade bowl to fill with homemade soup! Details here.

Comedy at the Crem is a comedy show on an unusual topic - death. Canberra comedians Jacquelyn Richards and Sarah Stewart join end-of-life doula Stell Muses to challenge the taboos and show how comedy has a place in conversations about death, dying and bereavement. Details here.
The National Museum will be holding an engaging conversation with Pakana artist Vicki West and makers of the documentary film Tiger on the Rocks, Cathryn Vasseleu and Pat Fiske. The event includes a 40-minute conversation and a screening of the film. Details here.
