This Weekend: 🟡 National Wattle Day at the Arboretum
National Wattle Day is on September 1st. To celebrate, The Arboretum is offering guided Wattle Walks where you can see more than 10 types of the beautiful blooms and hear stories about our national floral emblem. Details here.
There will also be a Wattle Corner in the visitors centre hosted by The Wattle Day Association. And if you’re looking to grow a wattle at home, you can buy wattle seed collected from the National Arboretum’s very own Golden Grove.
This Weekend: 👗 Kilo Sale
Buy vintage clothes by the kilo at the Kilo Sale happening in Kingston this weekend. There will be over 9000 kilos of clothing to pick from at any time, with everything being sold for $50 per kilo no matter the value. Details here.
🚌 Become a MyWay+ Tester
Transport Canberra is looking for 200 people to test the new MyWay+ App, online account, journey planner and the new equipment on board buses and at light rail stops. You can apply to become one of the testers here.
Father’s Day: 🍰 The Hyatt
Yet to make Father’s Day plans? The Hyatt has two events this Sunday. The first is a Gentleman’s High Tea featuring a three-tiered stand of goodies as well as live stations, including a crepes, churros, and build your own sliders.
They are also doing a roast buffet in the Promenade Cafe, and fathers will receive a complimentary BentSpoke beer and entry into the draw to win a Truefitt and Hill hamper. Details here.

"English is a feel-good comedy set in a small classroom in Iran, highlighting the absurdity of conversations, accents, and serious subjects lost in translation during a language lessons. The Pulitzer Prize-winning play is on at Canberra Theatre from September 5-7. Details here.
Concert: 🎷 Jeremy Rose Quartet
Tuggeranong Arts is hosting the Aria award-winning saxophonist Jeremy Rose. His album Nightjar won the Aria for Best Jazz Album last year. He’ll be performing this Saturday at 7. Details here.
New Eats: 🍽️ Amara
A new Indian restaurant has opened in the Melbourne Building on Northbourne. The team behind Amara have over 25 years of experience at one of Sydney’s finest Indian restaurants. It’s now open for lunch and dinner Monday to Saturday. Details here.
Concert: 🎶 Artsound Winter Concert
Community radio station Artsound FM is holding their Winter Concert this weekend. The concert will feature acoustic folk from the Kopasetic Duo, jazz funk by the Joel Dreezer Quartet, and afro reggae from Zambezi Sounds. It promises to be a fun musical event for the whole family. Before the concert, there will also be a documentary screening of RUDEBOY: The Story of Trojan Records Details here.

National Museum’s Most Popular Exhibition: The Discovering Ancient Egyptexhibition at the NMA has broken past records to become the most visited exhibition. So far, 196,000 people have seen the exhibit. If you’ve yet to see it, it’s on until September 7. More.
Koala March: You may see the Koala Army marching from Kings Park to Parliament House this Sunday. The event seeks to raise public awareness of the threats to native habitats caused by land clearing. More.
