With temperatures reaching the 20s this weekend, it certainly feels like spring is nearly here. I thought I'd look ahead to some upcoming spring events happening at one of Floriade's satellite locations, the Lanyon Homestead:

Tender Funerals, a not-for-profit funeral service, opened in Canberra yesterday. The Snow Foundation provided $1 million in funding to help bring the organisation to Canberra. Tender Funerals provides funeral services at cost, as well as financial assistance to those experiencing financial hardship. More.

There are two exhibitions currently on at the Glassworks:
Cobi Cockburn is a contemporary artist who uses glass, light, and line as her medium. Her Pink Moon exhibition features large-scale, light-based sculptural works. It's on now until 22nd September. Details here.
Hanging by a Thread: Mosaics for Afghan Women exhibition aims to raise awareness of the plight of Afghan women and girls. Each artist has made a small segment of glass mosaic, which is being joined together to create a series of giant scarfs. Details here.
