Commonwealth Avenue will be closed in sections from 6pm tonight until 6am on Monday as part of works to raise London Circuit. Motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes such as the Parkway or Monaro Highway. More.
The carnival is coming to Thoroughbred Park this Sunday. Entry into the carnival is $2 and itโs $2 per ride. There will be a range of carnival rides, a bubble show, food trucks and dessert stalls. Details here.
Sullivans Creek runs through the inner north of Canberra and empties into Lake Burley Griffin. In the 1960s and 70s, the creek was transformed into a concrete channel. In 2023, the Canberra community was invited to share their ideas for the future of Sullivans Creek and most people wanted to remove the concrete. A report with the outcomes from this community consultation has been released and will be used as the foundation for future plans. The eventual plan is to re-naturalise the creek while expanding flood capacity and public amenities. More.
A cabaret stage show about Marilyn Monroe's life on the screen is playing at the Mill Theatre (Dairy Road) until August 24. It features songs from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, River of No Return, Let's Make Love and scenes from Bus Stop and Some Like It Hot. Details here.
Bangin Beats and Bubbles is a family-friendly afternoon of beats (at a kid-safe volume), bubbles, balloons and burgers. The European Union Delegation to Australia and the Italian Embassy in Australia are presenting a special evening with renowned Italian pianist Giulio Biddau.
