Coming Up: πŸ›Ή A Night at the Museum

The National Museum is turning back the clock with an adults-only 90s-themed Night at the Museum. See skate stunts, shoot some hoops or channel your inner Raygun and try breakdancing. There will also be a pop-up arcade, games lounge and graffiti wall. DJ Tigerlilly and Aria will provide the tunes. It's happening on August 30th. Details here.


Something to do: 🐱 CatVideoFest 2024

CatVideoFest is a compilation reel of the best and latest cat videos culled from countless hours of unique submissions and shown on the big screen. Seattle-based director Will Braden has watched over 100,000 cat videos to create the yearly compilation. The festival is coming to Canberra (Dendy) in September after a sell-out run in the U.S. and Europe. Details here.


News: πŸ› Casey Community Park Opens

The new Casey Community Park has opened in Gungahlin. It features all abilities play equipment, a BBQ and picnic area, accessible toilets, cricket nets (opening next week), a flying fox and a multi-use court.


News: ✏️ ACT NAPLAN Results

Students in the ACT have outperformed the national average in NAPLAN testing. The results are similar to last year's, although there has been a small improvement across most categories. The Territory's strongest area was Reading with three-quarters of students assessed as strong or exceeding expectations.


Concert: 🎢 Apeiron Baroque

Apeiron Baroque will be stepping back in time to the late 18th century and showcasing the sounds of their Walter-style fortepiano, a predecessor to the modern piano and the model of piano that was favoured by Mozart. Apeiron Baroque was formed in 2022 by Early Music specialists John Ma and Marie Searles. After honing their skills in the concert halls and ensembles of Europe over nearly two decades, the pair returned to Canberra to share their knowledge with Australian audiences. Their next concert Hammer Tech is this Sunday at the Wesley Music Centre. Details here.

New Eats: β˜•οΈ Lil Mama's Studio

Lil Mama's is described as a space for Canberra's creatives to hang out. It's part coffee shop, part studio, with plans to hold art nights and clothing pop-ups. It's opened on the Kingston Foreshore. Details here.

East Row Coffee is Back: East Row Speciality Coffee closed earlier this year. Thankfully, the popular little coffee spot in the city has announced they have have once again reopened.

Floriade: This year has flown by and it’s nearly that time of year again! Over 1 million flowers have been planted ready for the opening of Floriade in one month on September 14.
