News: ☕️ Lonsdale Street Roasters Cafe to Close

Lonsdale Street Roasters 7 will be closing at the end of June. The cafe has been a fixture on Lonsdale Street for over 13 years. The no.7 cafe played a large part in transforming the industrial precinct into a thriving hub.

The cafe is up for lease, with the owner looking to move on to new things.


New Eats: 🍇 Contentious Character

Urban winery Contentious Character in the Dairy Road precinct is now open. You can see the extensive new menu here.

The winery made the bold move to create a cellar door experience away from the wine region and open their new restaurant in the middle of Canberra. Contentious Character is open every day and serves breakfast, tapas, and an a-la-carte menu. You can also swing by for 3 different tasting experiences with the option to add matched food elements. Today: 🎭 ACT Hub-Athon Fundraiser

ACT Hub is Canberra’s home of independent theatre. The Hub is a collective of three theatre companies that perform out of the historic heritage-listed Causeway Hall.

Today, the collective is getting together to raise funds for ACT Hub with a 12-hour Hub Athon. There will be 12 hours, 7 plays and 25 actors. You can visit the hub at any time throughout the day or join in online to make a donation. Details here.


Tomorrow: Heritage Market Day

The Heritage Festival’s Heritage Market Day is happening tomorrow at Blundells Cottage (by the lake). Be transported back to the 1800s with workshops, music, dance displays and market stalls showcasing the region’s craftsmanship. Details here.


Something to do: 🧑‍🌾 Maintaining a Healthy Garden Workshop

Fiona from Ainslie Urban Farm, in collaboration with the Suburban Land Agency, is holding a workshop on protecting your garden from pests and diseases, including how to manage them organically. It’s happening next Saturday at the Innovation Precinct in Whitlam. Details here.


Mother’s Day: 🦙 Blackwattle Alpaca Farm

Blackwattle Alpaca Farm is running a special Mother’s Day event to help fundraise for Bossom Buddies, a Canberra-based charity dedicated to providing support to those in the local community affected by breast cancer.

You can book in for tours with the Alpacas and there will also be Camels visting the farm. Details here.


Last Chance: Tuff Nutterz

The Tuff Nutterz inflatable obstacle course is finishing this weekend. The 300m course is located on the Parkes Place lawns. Details here.

Jetty To Open: While The Jetty on Lake Burley Griffin foreshore was meant to be closed, the good weather means they’ve decided to open again this weekend from 12pm to 5pm.
